Forever in our hearts

“The life of the dead is placed on the memories of the living. The love you gave in life keeps people alive beyond their time. Anyone who was given love will always live on in another’s heart.” – Marcus Tullius Cicero

To all of our friends and family, it’s hard to believe it has been over six years since Carey’s passing. Thanks to all of you who came to the memorial services, posted messages on Facebook, sent cards and letters or flowers. Thanks also to those who have visited his grave site in Greenwich, CT (see Resting Place for directions). We see the flowers and memory stones you leave and know that he remains in your hearts.

We launched this website in 2017 to honor Carey’s life and to share who he was through pictures, videos and words and also to create a community where all who knew him can share thoughts and memories. We encourage you to post photos and comments on the site.

The site provides information about causes (see important links) that Carey held dear or became meaningful at his death. We hope to keep his spirit alive and honor his life by promoting the values and causes that were most important to him.

Martin Luther King said, “It does not matter how long you live, but how well you do it.” Carey had a short but extraordinary life filled with adventure, accomplishment and service to others. His tremendous energy, compassion and desire to achieve made him unique and someone who brought excitement and joy to his family and his many friends.

As you will see in the photos, letters and videos on the site, Carey’s spirit of adventure, sense of humor, respect, service to others and kindness to all had a lasting impact on those who knew him.

Carey’s untimely death resulted in an indescribable sadness for all who loved him. We hope the site will be a place where we move past the veils of sadness and regret to acceptance and joy at having 18 amazing years with him.

At his death, Carey became a hero to several families through organ donation (see organ donation). We want to thank those recipient families who have contacted us. Your words of gratitude and support have been a source of solace in the knowledge that his passing resulted in such good. We will be updating the site frequently and we look forward to hearing from you directly or at tlecamp@optonline.net.
